Terms
The deal between Brine and your business, in plain words. All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. Version 1, 10 October 2026.
The short version
- We build your site first. Looking costs nothing and you're under no obligation.
- Like it? Pay $500 once, before it goes live. No deposit.
- Then $50 a month for hosting, your domain and care, including small changes whenever you ask.
- The site is yours once the $500 is paid. Your domain is registered in your name.
- No minimum term. Cancel any time by email.
- Refer a business that signs up and we pay you $50.
Before you pay
- Your private link is just for you to look. If you don't go ahead, we take the site down after 30 days and delete it. Want something removed, or don't want to hear from us again? Say so and we will.
- Changes before launch are free. You only pay if you approve the site.
The build: $500
- Our email asking if you'd like to go ahead includes a copy of this version. Your reply saying go ahead is your agreement to it. We then send a tax invoice for $500, due within 7 days by bank transfer. If it isn't paid within 30 days, the deal lapses and nothing is owed.
- Once it's paid, we register your domain, put the site live and set up email forwarding, normally within 5 working days. We also help with your Google Business Profile, but Google's checks can take longer. If we can't get your site live, we refund the $500.
- Rather host it yourself? The $500 is the same. We hand over the finished site files, there's no $50 a month, and any later changes are quoted.
Hosting, domain and care: $50 a month
- Invoiced at the end of each month, starting the month the site goes live. Due within 14 days, by bank transfer.
- Covers hosting, security, backups, the yearly renewal of one standard .co.nz or .nz domain, email forwarding to your inbox, and small changes.
- Small changes have no set number. Ask whenever you need: text, prices, hours, contact details, photos, a new job or a new review. We usually do them within 2 working days. Fair use: if they add up to more than about 2 hours of work in a month, we'll tell you first and quote the rest.
- Bigger work, like a new page, a new feature or a redesign, gets a fixed quote first. You only pay for it if you agree to the quote.
- The $50 is fixed for your first 12 months. After that we give at least 60 days' notice by email of any increase, and you can cancel before it starts.
- Late payment: we remind you first, and we email you before we pause or end anything. If a payment is more than 30 days late, we may pause the site until it's paid. Your email forwarding keeps working while it's paused. After 60 days unpaid, we may end the service as if you had cancelled.
- We build sites so Google can understand them, but we can't promise rankings or a number of enquiries.
Your site and domain
- Once the $500 is paid, the site is yours: we assign you the copyright in the design, words and files we made for you. We can keep using our own general tools and know-how, and you get a free, permanent licence for any of those that are part of your site.
- Your domain is registered with you, or your company, as the holder, using your own contact email. We manage it while you're with us, and we'll give you its authorisation code (the transfer code) whenever you ask. We never hold your domain back, even if you owe us money.
- We won't cancel your domain or let it lapse while you're with us. After you leave, renewing it is up to you. If it's still with our registrar when it's due, we'll email you at least 14 days before, and you can still get it back for 90 days after it lapses.
Leaving
- Cancel any time by email. Care continues to the end of the month you've paid for, then billing stops. Part months aren't refunded.
- When you leave, we send you your site files and the domain's authorisation code, and help you move, at no charge. The domain stays in your name, paid up to its next renewal date.
- We can end the service too, with at least 60 days' notice and the same handover, including if Brine stops trading. We'll only end it sooner if the site is used for something unlawful, or a payment is more than 60 days late. If we end it, we refund any days you've paid for after it ends.
Your content and enquiries
- We build the first version from what's public about your business. Before launch, tell us anything that isn't right or isn't yours to use and we'll change it. After that, you're responsible for content you send us or approve. Ask us to fix or remove anything, any time.
- Enquiries from your site's form go straight to you. We keep a backup copy for up to 90 days, never use them for anything else, and tell you straight away if they're ever exposed.
- We count visits to your site, without storing who visited, to send you a one-line monthly report.
If something goes wrong
- We do the work with reasonable care and skill. If something we did isn't right, tell us and we'll fix it free.
- If your site is down for more than 24 hours in total in a month, and you didn't cause it, we refund or credit that month's $50.
- You're buying this for your business, so as far as the law allows, you agree the Consumer Guarantees Act doesn't apply. The promises in these terms still do.
- Apart from fees owed, each of us is liable to the other for no more than $1,000 or what you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim, whichever is more. Neither of us is liable to the other for lost profits or lost work. This doesn't apply to fraud or deliberate wrongdoing.
- Nothing in these terms limits a right the law says can't be limited.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we'll email you at least 30 days before. If you don't like the change, you can cancel at no cost before it applies. A change can't undo the 12-month price promise.
Referrals: $50
- Anyone can refer a business to us, client or not. If that business adopts its site and pays its $500, we pay you $50 (including any GST) by bank transfer within 14 days.
- Ask them to get in touch and mention your name before they pay. One payment per business, to the first person named. You can't refer your own business.
- Only recommend us to people you know or businesses you've dealt with, and tell them you may get $50. No bulk emails, texts or lists. We don't pay for referrals that came from spam.
- We may change or end this offer, but not for referrals made before we do.
